Meet the Team: Mindaugas Pilvelis
At the core of Magnetic Trading lies its sales team. It’s also not rare for a former team member to return to the team after gaining some new life and work experiences. This time around, Mindaugas Pilvelis rejoined the company as the Engine Material Sales Manager at Magnetic Trading. Read about Mindaugas, his professional progress, why aviation, and much more.
What has been your career path thus far leading up to your current role?
Mindaugas: After my last friendship with Magnetic Group, I knew I was hooked on the winged industry and never wanted to work in any other field. So, after some time, I found myself back in aviation and opened a new chapter: engine material sales and purchasing. I was happy learning a lot of interesting technical things and getting to know many bright people when, all of a sudden, the pandemic struck and grounded the world, ending that step of my career.
Just as the pandemic was on its way out, I decided to give it a shot in another industry: precious metals. This led to adventurous traveling in Africa and finding contacts and sources to purchase precious metals. However exciting this was, I still had that itch that bothered me, and as soon as a great opportunity presented itself, I jumped right back into the field that I was already familiar with - aircraft engine material trading. To top it off, I went back to the company where my path in aviation started. Jackpot!
Why the aviation industry?
Mindaugas: It's a multifaceted answer, but those who've been working in aviation know the industry's allure. For one, you're working with the whole world. Quite literally, and it's because your client or partner might be from almost any corner of the world. Another is being a part of that fantastic group of people involved in the aviation world. And finally, all the complexity and nuances involved.
How would you describe Magnetic Group’s culture in three words?
Mindaugas: I certainly have to use bold, then fresh, as in new perspectives and being on trend, and, of course, fun!
What tips or advice would you give someone starting out as a sales manager?
Mindaugas: There's no quick gain, or it's beginner's luck. To achieve some real and long-lasting victories takes effort and time, but you only need to start with a small step and watch it grow. In other words, the key is consistency, even if it's a small step or two every day.
How do you spend your after-work hours?
Mindaugas: After a working day, I enjoy a good book, movie, or a long stroll through the city or countryside. I always make time for activities with my family and friends. Quite a big part of my after-work time revolves around music. I have a long-term hobby - playing drums. I am also in a band, so we rehearse, record, create new material, and play gigs from time to time. Whenever there is more time, I enjoy cycling, and on special occasions - windsurfing and parachuting.
