Meet the Team: Mete Arslandok
At Magnetic Engines, we’re proud of our exceptional team of skilled technicians. Today, we’re introducing Mete Arslandok, who joined our workshop team in 2024 – a great addition to the team. Originally from Turkey, Mete has been working on aircraft engines for quite some time. With his recent career change, Mete relocated from Finland to Tallinn, Estonia, to contribute his expertise to Magnetic Engines. Let’s hear from Mete about his journey!
Tell the readers about yourself – why aviation, why Magnetic Engines?
After graduating from university and working in a few different fields, I chose aviation because it combines my passion for technology with my desire to be part of something constantly evolving. It’s a career where I can make a real impact while being challenged every day.
Joining the company was an easy decision – Magnetic Engines is an exciting, growing overhaul center. With my 9 years of experience as an aircraft engine mechanic, I’m thrilled to be part of its journey. My skills in precision maintenance and making sure engines perform at their best fit perfectly with the company’s goal of pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
You’ve relocated to Tallinn, Estonia, to work in the Magnetic Engines dedicated workshop. What have been the most surprising parts of this journey?
Moving to Tallinn to join Magnetic Engines has been an incredible experience! Honestly, the entire transition has gone much smoother than I anticipated. I got fantastic support from the company. They took care of everything from visa arrangements to relocation support, which made the move stress-free. I feel truly fortunate to be part of such a caring team.
What do you enjoy most about your work here, and in working with aircraft engines?
Every engine presents a unique challenge, making each project feel like a new puzzle to solve. No two workdays are the same. One day I might be focused on engine removal, the next on installation, and another on detailed inspections and repairs. This constant variety keeps the job exciting and pushes me to refine my skills. I also really enjoy working with my colleagues; the teamwork and shared expertise make every task more rewarding.
One recent project that stands out involved replacing the HPT blades on a CFM56-7B engine in just eight days. Thanks to the commitment and collaboration of my fantastic colleagues, we not only met the deadline but also executed the job with great precision and efficiency. It was a tough project, but we had a blast working on it together.
What tips or advice would you give someone who’s thinking about a career in aviation?
If you’re considering a career in aviation, my best advice is to stay curious and committed to learning. The industry is constantly evolving, with new technologies and innovations emerging all the time. Keeping up with these advancements is essential for long-term success. Be prepared for challenges, but also know that the satisfaction of solving a tough problem or completing a major project is incredibly rewarding. Lastly, don’t underestimate the importance of building a strong professional network — it can open many doors in this industry.
