Agriculture, exotic cuisines, and golfing are just a few keywords defining Marius' professional and personal repertoire. Recently, Marius Janavicius joined Magnetic Trading as a Sales Manager in the spare parts division. Below, he introduces us to his career, current responsibilities, and where he can be found during after-work hours.

What was the career path that has led you to work in aviation?

Marius: A couple of years ago, I could not imagine myself working in aviation. It's likely because I had spent my prior career in agriculture and food production-related fields. Everything began when, just after graduation, I joined a new startup company that specialized in organic fertilizer production.

The position required meticulous planning, supplier negotiations, and coordination of procurement processes. This experience laid the groundwork for my organizational and operational expertise. Soon after, I shifted my career toward sales. It happened so naturally. My subsequent workplaces required my attention to developing new B2B projects, coordinating product development, creating and fostering relationships with different levels and geography accounts, and managing end-to-end export operations. The work was the perfect match for me!

Last year, my friend told me about her work in the aviation field, and I was intrigued. However, I might have felt too comfortable in my previous area and, therefore, did not have any thoughts about making a career leap, especially one that required industry change. But life had other plans. Six months or so later, aviation found me, and after a very smooth transition, I joined Magnetic Trading.

What do you do in your current role?

Marius: I joined the Magnetic Trading department as a Sales Manager. My primary responsibility here is to find business opportunities and create profitable partnerships. As for duties, they involve daily communication with clients, vendors, and partners and continuously looking for solutions on how I can make their lives easier by providing extra value.

Undoubtedly, the field is challenging, although everything is possible with effort and a professional team. As I am still a newbie in aviation, the direction for me is clear. My main goal is to keep expanding my industry knowledge and keep growing.

Throughout my career, I have been driven by a passion for continuous improvement and problem-solving. I am happy that I can apply my broad range of soft skills in my present role. Magnetic Group is also providing an excellent platform for individual flourishing, and this is something I celebrate!

Where can we find you in your free time?

Marius: It depends on the seasonality, weather, and mood. One day, you can find me in the forest riding MTB or lying on the sofa with my Kindle. Not too long ago, I started a golf license course, so you will be able to find me on the golf course in the near future, too. But most of the time, I'm in the home kitchen hosting a three or more meal dinner for a group of friends.
Back in the day, I used to work in a professional kitchen as a chef, so home cooking is still a total breeze for me. I also run a blog, which I use as a creative outlet where I capture all of my food creations. Combine this with an interest in international and exotic cuisines, and you get a group of satisfied and very well-fed friends.
