Operating under Magnetic MRO, its dedicated EASA Part-145 certified component maintenance workshop has recently undergone modifications, opening an entirely new tire change facility for aircraft wheels using a line method. The newly-launched line will notably improve service, benefiting customers and employees.

Margus Graf, Magnetic MRO Workshop Manager, comments on the new line development: “Implementing the new wheels maintenance line helps increase efficiency. After analyzing our customers’ and employees’ needs, this line has been built to make the processes smoother by removing unnecessary steps. Simply put, it keeps the wheels on the same height throughout the workflow steps, making handling heavy-weight components much easier.“

The main advantage is significantly improved TAT (Turnaround Time), which, on average, decreases from 5 to 3 days. This means that multiple labor-intensive steps will be eliminated when working on the line. Before the recent improvement, wheels were often moved from one workspace to another, involving heavy lifting and time-consuming movements. Consequently, the team will benefit from an easier workflow.

“For example, previously, an employee had to carry a heavy object from A to B and lift it multiple times to bring it from one station to another, totaling 16 lifts. With the new line, there are ideally only two component lifts — one time up and one time down, while all actions are performed on the line,” concludes Margus.

Magnetic MRO component maintenance workshop offers a broad range of component repair support services, providing inspections, overhaul and repairs services mainly for aircraft wheels, brakes, escape slides, and batteries.
