16.09.2024

As Magnetic Academy's second round of applications is now officially open, you can now apply to be a part of the second flight. Let's hear about the program in more detail from its dedicated recruitment lead, Jani-Olav Yliaska, who's answering three frequently asked questions below.

Launched at the start of 2024, Magnetic Academy offers a career-boosting path for future aircraft mechanics. The program combines hands-on practical work with academic studies, allowing you to become a licensed aircraft mechanic while earning a full-time salary and gaining real-world experience in aviation maintenance.

Who can join Magnetic Academy?

Jani: We welcome applications from individuals passionate about aviation and eager to develop their skills. Applicants need to have a secondary education, proficient English (B1 or higher), and be eligible to work and live in Estonia. While no prior experience in aviation is required, some technical experience or background is what we are looking for. This program is ideal for those ready to commit to a long-term career in the aviation industry.

What does the program offer?

Jani: Magnetic Academy stands out for its work-study format, where participants undergo practical training alongside comprehensive classroom lectures. Over 4-5 years, you'll gain the knowledge needed to pass the EASA exams for an aviation mechanic's license and accumulate hands-on experience that will prepare you to work on modern aircraft. By the end, graduates will be eligible to obtain an EASA Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance License, setting them on a path to becoming certified aircraft engineers.

How is the program structured?

Jani: The program begins with a probation period at Magnetic MRO in Tallinn to assess your suitability for the role. After this, theoretical courses start, provided by our Riga-based program partner Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI). The schedule rotates between lectures and hands-on work as you gradually build expertise in aircraft mechanics. Throughout the 4-5 years, you'll get fully immersed in the aviation maintenance industry, working alongside professionals and growing your salary.
